If you are reading this then, congratulations for successfully making it into this year 2020. 2019 came and passed with its many hurdles and accomplishments as well. As you start your business journey for this year it is important to consider some very important things. You have an opportunity here to start afresh and it is vital that you start early, well and strong. That is why I have decided to pen down this article to give you some business tips for this New Year. If you thoughtfully and diligently consider these tips they will set you on course to having a fruitful business year. I am just going to give you 3 tips which in themselves cover a wide array of areas in business.
Cement Your Existing Customer Relationships
Now, there is a propensity by entrepreneurs to be so bent on getting more customers. There is nothing necessarily wrong with that but often times the fundamentals are lost in translation. Here is the thing, in your quest to sign up more customers you can inadvertently lose existing customers in the process. This is usually borne out of the fatal assumption, sometimes, that existing customers do not need that much attention. As you start this year do not lose sight of the critical importance of retaining your existing customers. The mere fact that they were with you throughout 2019 must count for something. After all, those same customers are just a breath away from getting you your next wave of new customers.
‘Out with the old and in with new’ is a fundamental piece of wisdom in some aspects but not with customers. You need your existing customers just as much as you need new ones. The great thing about the existing ones is that you already surmounted the hurdles of getting to convince them to come on board. All you have to do is to nurture your relationship with them. So, make this your business approach as you start your 2020 business journey. If you had not been mindful of this start now and if you had been cognizant of it enhance it even more.
Re-evaluate Your Business Strategies
You went through the year 2019 running your business – I am assuming that despite the turbulence you sailed through. Even if you, unfortunately, went out of business (as some of you did) what I am about to share with you applies all the same. In retrospect, you must take note of what worked and what did not. In order to change the narrative for your business this year, you must have all that in mind. You must revisit your business strategies for 2020. For instance, it could be marketing – I am mentioning this because it is central to any business. What worked for your business last year in as far as marketing is concerned? Some of the marketing strategies you used might have failed to deliver – which were they? You must closely look at all that lest you continue doing what does not work. It could be the financial management framework of your business – re-evaluate it.
It is considered ludicrous to continue doing the same things yet expecting to get different results. If you do not re-evaluate your business strategies you ultimately will fall into that category. It might not even have to be huge changes that are needed for your business strategies; it can be slight and subtle. At the end of the day what is important is to re-evaluate and get to a place where you are rolling out winning strategies. Make up your mind to do this for your business as you move along the year.
Become Increasingly Digital
All throughout last year I underscored this countless times. If you are to see your business growing to remarkable scales then you must become increasingly digital. Earlier I highlighted the centrality of marketing to your business – it one area where you can easily go digital. Get a website or set up or step up your social media accounts. With those platforms, you can plan and implement tried and tested digital marketing campaign methods. You can also adopt e-commerce strategies to cultivate online sales. Even in the various business processes that characterise your business, there are many ways you become digital. Find ways to use software or mobile apps to streamline your business operations. Not only will you find your business optimized but you will tap into the virtual world which is laden with infinite business value and opportunities.
There you go folks, 3 business tips that I am confident will infuse the much-needed life and productivity into your business in 2020. Once again, welcome to the year 2020 and may all your heart’s desires pertaining to your business this year be consummated. Remember that no man is an island – learn to collaborate with others more this year; it will open up unimaginable opportunities for your business.
