The need for deliveries has surged ever since the arrival of the pandemic. We have been witnessing more and more enterprises in Zimbabwe adopting delivery models. That is probably the sole reason why some enterprises have even stayed afloat despite the hurdles. We have also seen the emergence of businesses solely based on offering deliveries. Another interesting trend rolling out is the emergence of companies facilitating deliveries for stuff to Zimbabweans paid for by diasporans. The types of goods involved vary from enterprise to enterprise. In this article, I am specifically discussing food delivery companies. You will notice by the end of the article that I will deal with two broad types of delivery companies.
Imets
Imets streamlines scenarios where diasporans want to buy food for their loved ones in Zimbabwe. Imets has a mobile app that you can download from the app stores. How it works is simple and quite convenient. Let us suppose you are in Zimbabwe and you want someone in the diaspora to pay for your foodstuffs. You go to the app; you choose what you want from the available shops. Then you send the bill to someone in the diaspora (or even local). You then pick the date and time for delivery and Imets will drop your order at your doorstep. Alternatively, the diasporans just go to the app to buy your foodstuffs and they get delivered to you back here. The available food shops right now are OK Zimbabwe, Spar, Food Emporium, and Bon Marche. They also have Axecure Sneakers – non-food but thought it useful to mention. You can direct message them via their Instagram page as well. You can also visit their website for more information.
Fresh In A Box
Fresh In A Box is more or less the most notable pioneer in this food delivery business in Zimbabwe. Fresh In Box is a food delivery service that mainly deals with fresh farm produce. However, over time they have also diversified into other types of foodstuffs such as groceries, beverages, and the like. You can go to their website and get registered to become an account holder. It is via the same website that you can also place orders. Alternatively, you can place orders via their WhatsApp number: +263 774162442. You can also email admin@freshinabox.co.zw. They also have a mobile app that you can download from the app stores. Payment methods are several namely, EcoCash, Visa, MasterCard, PayPal, and so on. Fresh In A Box caters for both local Zimbabweans and those in the diaspora. Thus those in the diaspora can purchase foodstuffs for their loved ones here.
Urban Foods Zimbabwe
People in the diaspora can order for their loved ones back in Zimbabwe. Some of the countries they cover are the US, Canada, South Africa, Australia, and the UK. Urban Foods will then deliver straight to them here in Zimbabwe. This means if you are in Zimbabwe and you want someone in the diaspora to buy food for you can contact Urban Foods. Their physical address is 119 Seke Road in Harare. You can contact them via their numbers as follows, Zimbabwe (+263774975855) or the UK (+447912846421). Alternatively, you can email shop@urbanfoods.co.zw. You can also find out more details on their website. There is some great content on their Instagram page, kindly check it out.

Orders can be made for either pick-up or delivery. You can order via the mobile app or the web app. Payments methods range from mobile money to Visa, MasterCard, and the like. You can also contact them via +263776699007 or email at info@getmunched.com. The website or web app is accessible here. They are also on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.
Tazine Eats
Tazine Eats’ sole focus is to connect people and restaurants seamlessly, contactlessly, and effortlessly. You can get more information on their website. They have a mobile app you can download on the app stores.
So there you have it, these are some of the notable food delivery companies in Zimbabwe. I touched on food delivery companies specializing in non-cooked food items. I then also looked at food delivery companies focusing on cooked foods such as fast foods. I also took the liberty to highlight food delivery companies that enable diasporans to buy food for loved ones back. I am sure you will find all these food deliveries service providers handy at some point.
