Betting in simple terms is the act of gambling money on the outcome of a race, game, or other unpredictable events. Betting is one activity that has picked up quite some steam in the past couple of years in Zimbabwe. I have spoken to a few of my buddies who regularly bet – sports (soccer) betting in particular. They have cashed out quite well a few times though it is commonplace to lose out most times. I have also learnt that betting smaller amounts is safe whereas betting huge amounts is risky but can pay off big. I have also realized that betting can easily become extremely addictive. I myself have never betted but I find the whole thing fascinating; it really is an art and a science. Not looking into that though today but I will be looking at some of the betting companies in Zimbabwe. Betting in Zimbabwe is presided over by the Lottery and Gambling Board of Zimbabwe.
AfricaBet Zimbabwe Sports Betting
AfricaBet is undoubtedly one of them, if not, the most notable betting company in Zimbabwe. They pride themselves in offering Zimbabweans with a top-notch service where one can bet comfortably and in style. They cover numerous soccer leagues from all over world – English Premier and Spanish Leagues being some of them. They also cater for betting in gaming, dog racing, and horse racing. The company was founded in 2005 and is headquartered in Harare, Zimbabwe. AfricaBet has shops all over the country. Currently, most people have been tied down due to lockdown restrictions which have seen betting shops closed.
Supabets Sports Betting
Supabets offers betting services for sports, dog racing, and gaming. Their sports line-up is quite expansive consisting of 23 sports which do include soccer, basketball, and other sports such as water polo, cross country, and cycling.
Moors World Of Sport
This betting company is owned by Richard Moor. It covers sports betting on soccer, tennis, cricket, rugby, basketball, boxing, MMA, futsal, handball, ice hockey, snooker, table tennis, and volleyball. Products include pre-match, top league, live, fixture, jackpot, e-league, virtual, and games. You can check it all out on their website.
Zimbet
This is a soccer betting company that was launched in 2005. Given how far back it was launched I would have expected that by now to be at the apex. Unfortunately, they do not even have a website to their name and virtually no social media presence to speak of.
Africa Lotto Zimbabwe
Africa Lotto was started in 2008 and is wholly owned by a Trust. It provides gaming services that include draw games, instant win games, scratch cards, and sports lottery.
Regency Casino
Located in Harare this is actually the biggest casino in Zimbabwe. It is found at Rainbow Towers and Conference Centre. Regency Casino is part of 5-part consortium of casinos in Zimbabwe. The other 4 are situated in Chitungwiza, Gweru, Victoria Falls, and Mulena.
Betting Sites
Most of the aforementioned do have online sites i.e. you can actually bet online. All of them do have physical stores in Zimbabwe – that is why I specifically listed them there. Nonetheless, there are numerous other online sites through which people in Zimbabwe can bet. Some of them are Betway, Pinnacle, SportPesa, Megabet and Betsson. The challenge with most betting sites is that they require Visa or MasterCard payments. Most Zimbabweans do not have such and would prefer at best EcoCash for online payments.
Evidently, sports betting is the king of the jungle in Zimbabwe. I have shared with you some of the popular betting companies in Zimbabwe so go check them out. Betting is a heavily debated activity where opinions are seriously divided. It really is not that easy to advocate for or against. At the end of the day, you must exercise utmost discretion and restraint – if you cannot then you shouldn’t indulge at all.
