There is never a shortage of business ideas. I strive to share as many of them with you as possible to broaden your vision. There are so many ways through which we can categorize things. For example, we can categorize things as for males, for females, for senior citizens, for kids, and so on. Just based on that alone, we can explore an infinite number of business ideas. That is even a way you can use to try and figure out what business areas to venture into. Anyways, the business ideas I am about to share with you are for the holidays. By ‘holidays’ I am referring to generally, not specific holidays.
Events Planning And Management
Holidays are usually characterized by all sorts of events. These can be weddings, parties, family outings, church events, and so on. You can run a business that offers events planning and management services. For example, you can niche on weddings by being a wedding planner. Alternatively, you can be all-encompassing by being someone who can organize events. You can expand this further or just niche on hiring services.
There is a wide range of things that can be hired for use at events. Examples are chairs, tables, apparel, venues, audio, and visual equipment, amongst others. Practically it would be more lucrative to be a one-stop-shop i.e. you have the equipment and can also plan and manage events. So with events planning and management, you can make some good money during holiday periods.
Photography and Videography Services
Already we have looked at the popular holding of events during holidays. During such events, there is usually a need for coverage in the form of photos and videos. You can tap into that niche as people are so big on capturing memories nowadays.
In general, during holidays people are more outgoing. You can strategically target scenic places where people tend to hang out. You can make decent money from capturing photos in such areas. You can even go to resort areas where there are usually influxes of people touring. The same goes for places like parks where people would want to have pictures taken.
Tutoring Services
During holidays is off-season for academic students. This is time they get to rewind and slow down a bit school-wise. When schools are open things tend to unfold so rapidly that keeping up might be hard. During holidays students get to catch and study to stay up to date. That is also the time they get to do remedial work and prepare for exams. Teachers also get to relax as well as they will not be subject to the day to day hustle and bustle in classes.
With all that in mind holidays become a perfect time to tutor and get tutored. Teachers can realize extra income through tutoring in certain subject areas. Even high school or varsity graduates can offer the same tutoring services provided they are knowledgeable. Holidays are the perfect time for carrying tutorial lessons – lots of money can be made from tutoring.
Errand Services
Errand services are becoming more and more popular in Zimbabwe. Examples of errand services are medical prescription picking, airport pickups and drops, grocery shopping, personal shopping, courier and delivery services, party planning, project management, appointment scheduling, wedding, and anniversary planning assistance, moving coordination, de-cluttering, sorting and organizing.
These are a few examples – the list is endless. These services can be more relevant during holidays. This is because families and friends would want to maximize on time they spend together. Thus instead of being preoccupied with running errands, they can have someone do them for them. There are now several errand service providers in Zimbabwe but there is still room for more players.
Food Services
Lots of food is consumed during holidays. Fast food enterprises enjoy more business during such times. Grocery sales also spike during holidays. Beverages, alcoholic and non-alcoholic, sell quite well too. Caterers also become more sought after for covering all sorts of gatherings. Food delivery services, a growing trend in Zimbabwe, increase during holidays. I just had to mention several areas so that you figure out which area is for you. The areas I have mentioned are so broad that niching approaches are infinite.
These are business ideas you can consider for any holiday period. The idea is to study and note trends during certain holidays and consumer behaviours. That can help inform on what the best business idea to roll out would be. It is also largely contextual; what might boom in one area might not in another.
