Towards the end of January, I wrote an article on the business idea of offering body therapy services in Zimbabwe. You can read it to get an appreciation of how you can start yours. In that same article, I promised that I would do an article focusing on an actual body therapy business operating in Zimbabwe. True to my promise, that article has come because today I am profiling The Therapy Room Beauty Bar. This is a rising body therapy business from Masvingo, founded by Delight Chiwera.

How It All Started

It started this January 2022. Before that Delight Chiwera had been based full-time in neighbouring South Africa. When she came back to Zimbabwe in 2020 she went into a partnership doing beauty therapy. She initially did that to get her footing and see how the local market would respond. It all went quite well but at some point, the space they were operating from became too small for them. That necessitated them to decide to look for a new and bigger place to operate from. It was during that time that she decided to branch off, diversify and give birth to The Therapy Room Beauty Bar on her own.

Services Offered

They offer most beauty therapy treatments from Swedish massage, hot stone and aromatherapy massage, reflexology massage, body exfoliations, foot spas, manicures and pedicures, facials, micro-blading, micro-needling, derma rolling, waxing hair removal, brow tinting, plus more. Target Market

Their target market is unlimited. The services they offer apply to virtually all ages groups in Zimbabwe. They are also working on incorporating Zimbabweans into the diaspora. That is a market comprising of anything between 3 million and 5 million potential clients. These are clients who can purchase gift vouchers for family, relatives, and friends here; then The Therapy Room Beauty Bar delivers the service to them here. For now, the market is largely people in Masvingo but in due course expansion will be inevitable.

The Team Behind The Therapy Room Beauty Bar

As for now, the brand currently has a seemingly tiny but solid team of 4 qualified and experienced body therapists. These are Delight Chiwera, the Owner and Founder, and 3 assistants.

Challenges Being Faced

The challenge they are facing currently is mainly lack of exposure. They say they are yet to be well known in terms of brand awareness. This majorly stems from the fact that most people are not informed on the importance of body therapy. As I mentioned in that other article, most people view these services as luxuries rather than necessities. If people are well-informed that feeds significantly into the much-needed customer inflows.

Future Plans

The Therapy Room Beauty Bar would like people to know that they are here for the long haul. They intend to grow their business such that they will open more branches all across Zimbabwe. Soon they will also be offering professional social, personal, and family counselling services. This is all in a bid to become a wellness centre that caters to your mind, body and soul. They are also open to business partnerships for purposes of expansion into more areas related to health and wellness.
