The importance of raising kids properly can never be overemphasised. Unfortunately, most parents and guardians do not appreciate this as they ought to. From the moment a baby is born into this world begins a process of socialization and conditioning. Most of how people turn out in life are most influenced by how they were raised. It is said that the first 8 or so years of a child’s life are considered formative. These are the years during which children are moulded into what they will become in their later years. It is paramount that we pay close attention to how we raise kids in their early years.

Should See More Of This Moving Forward

I have seen many kids-themed shows in other countries. Kidpreneur Market is the beginning of something that can morph into or ignite a great initiative. I would like to see this expanding to other towns and cities. Imagine how it can grow into a national thing where young kids face off in pitch competitions. There are endless possibilities of how this ground-breaking event can grow into a huge Zimbabwean kidpreneur revolution. Kids are so malleable and thus easy to teach and groom. Their inquisitive nature also makes them full of limitless potential that can be easily unlocked.

This is also a great place to mention the importance of tailoring our school’s curriculum a certain way. I believe this is something that can be started now. Kids need to be primed and conditioned from kindergarten to be entrepreneur-minded. This will move away from the traditional framework which largely churns out employee-minded people later on. Yes, it does start from the home unit but the school system is central to all of this. It would also go a long way if the government and private sector come in for institutional and material support to roll out such initiatives. Kids can be more enterprising than you ever imagined – never underestimate them. I once read a story of a 13-year-old called Markita Andrews who once raised around US$80000 through selling cookies. Let us catch them young and transform entrepreneurship in Zimbabwe.
