Many people aspire to start small businesses and end up doing so. It is now a widespread norm in Zimbabwe – the pursuit of becoming a business person. Regardless, it is noteworthy that many people are still hesitant to start small businesses. The reasons behind that are wide-ranging. Some of them are valid, whereas some are misplaced. The bottom line is that some people feel it is too costly to start a small business. Others fear the demand it places on them to be committed and resilient. You must know that it does not always have to be tasked to start a small business. You do not always need certain things to start a small business.
Physical Office Space Or Outlet
You do not always need to build or rent brick-and-mortar space. I understand this may not be possible for some lines of business. However, wherever possible, try to operate without that. At the most basic, you can operate from your home – if the context is conducive. Especially if you are starting a service-based business, eliminating the need for office space or a physical outlet is accessible.
You need to leverage the tenets of e-commerce and digital marketing, amongst other digital approaches. If we are to be objective, many small business scenarios do not need brick-and-mortar space. This goes a long way in minimizing overhead costs, especially at the onset. Many accounts of global companies today started off from dorm rooms or garages. That speaks volumes!
Written Business Plan
This depends because, typically, it is inevitable to write a business plan. For instance, it is inevitable if you are looking to source capital or court, potential business partners. A written business would be integral to approaching such people or entities. Otherwise, you do not necessarily need a written business plan. You will discover that many people start small businesses without a written business plan.
When the need arises, you will find them seeking skilled professionals to draft business plans for them. Yet all along, they would have been operating their small businesses. That tells you you can start without a written business plan and thrive. This does not, of course, invalidate the importance of general business planning. Only that it is written into a structured business plan may not be necessary initially.
Company Or Business Registration
This is yet another aspect that you can start a small business without. A sizeable number of people only formally get their businesses registered later. Does this mean that company or business registration is not essential? Not! Rather it is just an issue of prioritization. For instance, company registration now roughly costs anything from US$100. It is possible for that amount of money not to be readily available.
It is also possible for other requirements to not be there or in order yet. Thus it would not hurt to start your small business without registering it. Of course, the goal should be to register it ultimately. Otherwise, as for starting out, you can go for a stretch without registering the small business. Again, this is not to trivialize the importance of being formally registered. If, when starting out, you feel you are overwhelmed, then you can shelve it for the time being.
External Capital Injection
There are many options to finance your small business. Most of the options entail getting capital from somewhere. For instance, you can get capital from friends and family. You could also apply for loans or even approach individual investors. These are all options, and there are more. However, it is best not to rush to seek external capital injection when starting out. It is best to apply the tenets of bootstrapping. This entails financing your small business operations with your own money.
It could be money you have saved or will save over time. It could be money directly coming from your income from various avenues. This is best because you will not be pressured to pay back. It is understandably a tough route that needs you to be frugal, disciplined, and diligent. The good thing is it is doable. There are many successful businesses today that started with someone’s own money. Thus you do not necessarily need to seek capital from elsewhere when starting out.
Employed Staff
Go through the financials of many businesses or companies, and you will notice some recurrent trends. One of them is that salaries are the biggest chunk of operating costs. This tells you that you must be wary of labor costs from the beginning. When starting out, the best thing to do is not to rush to have employed staff. After all, starting a small business as a sole proprietor is commonplace. You can leverage the power of outsourcing. These days, countless digital resources replace the need to hire people. The bottom line is you can and must eliminate having employed staff when starting a small business. You can effectively wear many hats; many have successfully done it before.
You see, it can be very easy to start a small business. By removing those five variables from the initial equation, it becomes apparent. That is not to say that those variables are unimportant; they are. Along the way, there will come a time when they begin to matter. However, some people can be fortunate enough to never really need them. The biggest takeaway from this discussion is that you should not hesitate to start a small business. If you feel it may be overwhelming, then remove these five variables when starting out.

Yea you are not lying my brother because most people want to start a business with a lot of money
