Electronic gadgets are devices or appliances that operate using electronics. The most basic electronic gadget is a calculator – that example should give you an idea of how numerous electronic gadgets are. Just to give you some perspective let me list some of the most bought electronic devices on Amazon globally. These are gaming consoles, mobile phones, wireless headphones (and earbuds), TV sets, tablets, smart speakers, smartwatches, routers, and modems, amongst plenty others. In this article, I want to look at electronic gadgets you can sell in Zimbabwe.

Cell Phones And Accessories

Over half a trillion US dollars in smartphone sales is realized globally every year. The Android OS dominates the market with a global market share of over 85 per cent. This means that if you want to venture into cell phone sales you must deal more (or exclusively) with Android phones. Every year at least 1.5 billion smartphones are sold worldwide. Why am I mentioning all this? I just want to show you that cell phones are always in demand and so are their related accessories. Accessories include items such as chargers, touch screens, screen guards, earphones, pouches, and so on. You can never go wrong when you set out to sell these items – a lot of people I know who do this are running great businesses.

Audio-Visual Entertainment Gadgets

This is a huge segment which comprises many different types of electronic gadgets. I am talking of gadgets such as television sets, home theatre systems, wireless smart speakers (those Bluetooth speakers you typically see around these days), and so on. This also goes on to include projectors and associated accessories.

Printers, Scanners, Copiers, Consumables

Several people run businesses where they offer printing, scanning, and photocopying services. This is because people usually need such services regularly. Selling gadgets used for these services is also a worthy business endeavour. This stems from the fact that many people are looking to start businesses offering the aforementioned services. Thus they will be looking for places where they can buy printers, scanners, or photocopiers. Most people prefer 3 in 1s i.e. a gadget that does all 3 processes. Associated consumables include toners and cartridges, amongst others.

Audio-Visual Equipment

Here I am referring to the equipment used for capturing audio and videos. Gadgets like cameras, selfie sticks, tripods, microphones, and the like. This also expands to PA systems; musical instruments such as keyboards, guitars, amplifiers, mixers, and so on. Other gadgets get into the fold here such as flat screens, projectors, smart lights, plus many more. Due to the growth of online content creation through pre-recorded videos, and live streaming videos, for example, audio-visual equipment is highly sought after. Some of the biggest clients for such equipment are faith-based organizations (e.g. churches). Music production initiatives are also responsible for the high demand for such gadgets.

Computers And Accessories

Computers broadly entail desktop computers and laptop computers – laptops and tablets are the most common. Online activity has surged and keeps surging so more and more people are looking for personal computers (PCs). Whilst some buy desktop computers but laptops and tablets are most sought after. Then there are the related accessories e.g. power packs, gamepads, microphones, keyboards, printers, and so on. E-learning is on the rise and the demand for these gadgets will forever be on the rise. Internet connectivity has also created a heightened need for gadgets such as modems, routers, repeaters, and so on.

Gaming Equipment

Kids and young people growing up in this present age are tech-savvy. Most of them are no longer keen on playing board games or any of the games we played growing up. They prefer tech-based games which are quite common nowadays. Thus it can be lucrative to sell gaming equipment – many prospective customers are looking for that. Some of the gadgets to consider here are gaming consoles, gaming headsets, gaming mice, joysticks, gaming keyboards, gaming laptops, gaming monitors, and virtual reality (VR) or augmented reality (AR) gear, just to mention a few.

Generally, I feel smart gadgets are not yet mainstream in Zimbabwe. So in selling gadgets in the areas I discussed it can be strategic to include smart gadgets too. Tech is ever-evolving and as such you need to constantly stay abreast with the latest trends.
