Recently C-Trade launched their C-Trade Fantasy platform with a competition. While the competition aspect will get people excited, the real focus here should be that C-Trade Fantasy is really a demo account. Those who have tried things like Forex trading are familiar with the concept of a demo account which lets you get a feel for the markets using real data but imaginary money. To help through the journey of understanding C-Trade Fantasy, we are going to do a quick walkthrough.

First things first

Of course, the first thing we have to talk about is getting C-Trade Fantasy. If you are an existing C-Trade account holder, just log in to the app or website as normal, and you will get an option to switch to your Fantasy account. If you do not have a C-trade account, you will need to download C-Trade or the C-Trade Fantasy. To register for C-Trade, you will require a valid Zimbabwean bank account together with images of your Identification document and a passport photo to register. You can follow the steps in this guide to complete your registration.

Interface

The sections of the interface are as follows. For the most part, we will be looking at the app however, you get the same elements on the web-based experience.

My Cash shows you the status of your holdings, including portfolio value and any outstanding cash. Here you will also see the performance of your portfolio over the day.

You will then notice a section with some button options, which we will detail.

View Txn

Allows you to view your transaction history

Portfolio

It opens up a view of your portfolio to see your holdings.

Once you select any of the tabs, you will see what is available under it, and you can transact either by clicking the individual security you wish to buy/sell or clicking the buy/sell buttons at the bottom of the screen.

The transacting screen

Once you select the transacting screen there are a few things you have to fill in, whether you are buying or selling. Take note of the meaning of the following.

Time in force

This means how long the system should try to fulfil the order. For Fantasy, your orders will automatically be accepted, so don’t worry too much about it.

Broker

You select a broker per transaction with C-Trade. For Fantasy, it’s not important as orders automatically complete.

Quantity

This is the number of shares you want to buy. You can buy any number of units and aren’t bound by the normal market rules of 1-99 or multiples of 100 thereafter.

Price

This is the price you are buying/selling at. You will be given this by the platform automatically.

Once you fill in all these details, you can post your order.

You will get a confirmation of the total transaction amount. Once you click place order, you will get a confirmation of the transaction.

My orders

This section shows your order history. You will see both buy and sell orders here and their status.

And there you have it. It’s simple enough and no matter your level of experience or lack of it, you can easily get into C-Trade Fantasy. Have you tried C-Trade Fantasy? I would love to know your thoughts about the application, especially if you are new to stock trading.
