“Valar morghulis” as it said, “All men shall die”. Philip has managed to tap into an endeavor that will never run out of customers, as death is guaranteed. Philip is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Nyaradzo Group. Mr Philip Mataranyika was born in Nyazura, Manicaland, in 1964. He started school at Rukweza Primary School in Nyazura, but finished his primary education at Tsungai Primary School in Highfield, Harare. He did his high school in Nyazura and the joined Old Mutual in 1986 as a benefits administrator, and later became a financial advisor at the same company. He excelled at his work as an financial advisor, being awarded the Old Mutual Chairman’s Prize for Top Financial Advisor for five consecutive years, 1996-2001. He left Old Mutual to form Nyaradzo in 2001, after having worked for Old Mutual for 15 years. Old mutual was a good launching point for Philip Mataranyika as he got a lot of experience through interacting with clients and getting to know their exact needs. He formed Nyaradzo together with Farai Rwodzi and Timothy Chiganze. Philip Mataranyika is a graduate of the Institute of Marketing Management (South Africa). He also holds a Master of Science Degree in Strategic Management from the Chinhoyi University of Technology in Zimbabwe.

The Nyaradzo Group is made up of three companies: Nyaradzo Life Assurance Company, Calundike Exports, and Eureka Insurance Brokers. Nyaradzo Life Assurance Company operates through two divisions: Life Assurance and Funeral Services. The Nyaradzo Group provides a comprehensive range of funeral assurance products, services, and risk management solutions. The synergies within the Nyaradzo Group have proved to be a major competitive advantage in the provision of efficient and quality service to clients.

Philip Mataranyika has won many awards, including Harare Businessman of the Year (2010) by the ZNCC; National Businessman of the Year (2010) by the ZNCC; Chief Executive Officer of the Year (2010) by the ZNCC; Chief Executive of the Year (2011) by KMFS; Leadership Award of the Year (2013) by Megafest.
