Philip Chiyangwa, you either love him or hate him but there’s one thing that is certain; you will definitely know who he is. One thing that you might not know him about him is that his past is not so rosy, but that hasn’t stopped him becoming one the most successful people in Zimbabwe and why should it. He is the co-founder of the Affirmative Action Group together with Peter Pamire (1962–1997), a chair of Native Africa Investments Ltd, and has served as a member of parliament for the Zanu- PF party in Zimbabwe. Philip Chiyangwa also became ZIFA president against unlikely odds as many discredited him on the basis that he had no background affiliated with soccer but Phil managed to challenge critics and become Zifa president silencing all those who thought him unequal to the task.

Philip Chiyangwa grew up in Chegutu and worked for Chakari Mine before he was called up as a member of the BSAP African Reserve. Chiyangwa was the party chairman of Mashonaland West, one of the party’s most potent communities. In 1996 he proposed the indigenization of Zimbabwe through the removal of white farmers from the country.

Chiyangwa is the founder of Native Africa Investments Ltd. based in Harare. The company has various subsidiaries in the property, manufacturing, construction, hospitality, travel and tourism industries which include ZECO Holdings, Pinnacle Holdings and Tsivo Holdings. His company has been involved in a few high-profile takeovers, the most famous being G&D Shoes which he tried, with success to save from liquidation. Chiyangwa and the late Peter Pamire (1962-1997) founded the Affirmative Action Group (AAG) now led by Chamu Chiwanza. He was also responsible for the 1998 visit to Zimbabwe by singer Michael Jackson and after announcing to National media that he would be working with the singer on various business projects.

Chiyangwa loves to work with flamboyant popular individuals and is known for his friendship with the lanky musician Jah Prayzah and at one time featured on a clip with Busy Signal the Jamaican chanter. He drives around in countless state of the art Vehicles including a Rolls Royce and a GL 450 Mercedes personally plated Tsivo.
